Here at Atlas we go above and beyond the standards required by our awarded accreditations
The health and safety of all who join our trips is of top priority. We believe in building and delivering programmes which are totally safe, managed and improved upon without compromising on FUN & LEARNING.
As you would expect from a school tour operator with our experience, each trip is built upon a solid foundation and proactive approach to health and safety. We understand our legal and moral obligation to look after the health and safety of everyone on our tours and the importance of providing a systematic approach to implementing our Safety Management System.
We are holders of the AALA License for our UK adventurous activity programmes. We are accredited with the Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) Quality Badge. Our high standards of care and responsibility exceed requirements set by our accreditors and we continue to ensure our expectations are met in every way. From accommodation and transport to our adventure activity instructors, coach suppliers, ski schools and après-ski activities, our team are constantly seeking out the best for your school group.

Safety Management Systems
We assess each component of a tour individually, which includes going beyond assessing the adventure factor to ensure risks can be managed effectively.
In doing so, we look at how we can enhance the original experience whilst remaining as safe as possible. Covering policy, organisation, planning and setting standards, monitoring, audits, and reviews, our SMS is fully compliant with industry standards. This is reinforced by our annual assessment carried out by independent industry regulators. To support our own SMS, we also carry out internal regular reviews of our health and safety procedures. Travel & Accommodation:
We undertake accommodation audits on all the properties featured in this website.
This is a thorough audit covering essential areas of security, hygiene and fire safety. The frequency and detail of the audits is set to industry standards.
At Atlas, the safety of our customers is always our primary concern. Audits are completed at regular intervals to check that all accommodation conforms to the necessary standards. If at any time a property is found to pose a high safety risk to our customers, then it will not be used – it’s as simple as that.
Our Safety checks include the following:
- Emergency Procedures
- Fire Precaution
- Means of escape in case of fire
- Guest Security
- General Safety
- Electrical Safety
- Staff Training and Awareness
- Medical Facilities
- Ski Equipment
Flying school ski groups to a wide range of overseas airports across Europe we seek out the best flight options for you.
This includes charter flights, regular scheduled services and several trusted airlines. Wherever you are flying to, our experienced Operations Team will source the right flights for you.
Please note that flights do not go on sale until 11 months prior to departure.
Your dedicated Adventure Consultant will be able to provide you with information on baggage allowance and Ski/Snowboard carriage. Atlas uses several reliable carriers meaning regulations on baggage stipulations may vary. Our team will be able to advise Party Leaders on options available to those seeking to take their own ski and snowboard equipment on the school ski trip.
We offer full specification coach travel to a wide selection of our European resorts providing your school group with an easy and comfortable option.
Our Operations Team work with well-established and reliable British coach operators to provide an efficient alternative to flying.
The fleet of high quality coach companies are audited and checked to ensure they meet our strict standards for safety, suitability for Continental travel, and comfort. We typically offer space for 48 passengers on vehicles fitted with seatbelts, WC, and TV facilities. Some coaches may also feature additional facilities, including reclining seats, fridge and a drinks machine. All Groups benefit from exclusive use of the coach at no extra charge.
There are a few significant advantages to choosing coach travel for your European tour beyond the potential savings for your group against the cost of flights. Your group will be collected from school and returned at the end allowing for simple organisation of your students in a convenient and familiar meeting point.
Atlas maintain a long-standing relationship with P&O Ferries to bring school groups the best Channel crossing options.
Channel crossings from Dover to Calais have a minimum sailing time of 75 minutes, while alternative routes from Portsmouth are also available. With up to 25 sailings available every day from Dover to Calais, the Channel ferry crossing continues to be a trusted option for coach groups. The range of large lounge areas, cafes, bars and shops mean groups have the space to relax and unwind before continuing the road.
We have a selection of pre-bookable extras available on board to help in the planning of your journey:
- Pre-Booked Meals (Teachers get these Free of Charge)
- Drinks vouchers (Teachers get these Free of Charge)
- Activity Sheets for students
Overseas transfer coaches
Our overseas coaches face the same audit process as the UK coaches we use.
Insurance & Policies
There are so many things to think about when organising a school ski trip and we wouldn’t want something as important as travel insurance to go amiss.
If selected at the time of booking, our policy covers your pupils and staff from the moment we receive financial commitment.
Furthermore, our policies cover your students for all skiing activities as part of your scheduled itinerary. In addition to this, we as tour operator have liability cover up to £5 million.
